2. Sew ¼˝ from the marked line on both sides.

3. Cut on the marked line.

4. Press the seams open. Trim to 1½˝ × 1½˝, using a clear ruler with a 45° mark to line up with the diagonal seam. Repeat with 3 additional pairs of 2½˝ print and white squares.

5. Arrange the inner star with the fussy-cut print in the center. Arrange the half-square triangles so a unit of each color is on each side of the square. Place the 1½˝ white squares in the corners.

6. Sew together each pair of half-square triangles with right sides facing. Press seams open. Stitch the left and right star points to the center. Stitch the solid corners to the loose star points, and then attach to the top and bottom of the block. This completed star now becomes the center block for the next star.
